«/i»Services were held for Alvin Bultena, who died Thursday afternoon, Jun. 1, 2000, at the Lennox Good Samaritan Center. Mr. Bultena became a resident of the Lennox nursing home since Nov. of 1999, following a lengthy illness. He attained the age of 84 years, two months and two days.

Alvin Bultena was born on a farm south of Lennox on Mar. 29, 1916, the son of Peter and Jennie (Kuper) Bultena. He lived on the farm until the age of ten, at which time he and his family moved to a farm north of Lennox. He attended rural and Lennox Public schools. He served during World War II, from 1942 to 1946.

On Feb. 14, 1946, he was united in marriage to Bernice Strasser at the Ebenezer Manse in Lennox.
The couple farmed southwest of Lennox until 1974, when they moved into Lennox. He was employed at Farm Gas until retiring in 1978. He also was a school bus driver for the Lennox School District for six years.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dick Bultena and Louis Bultena; and one sister, Tena Hoffman.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice; two sons and their wives: Larry and Lois Bultena of Lennox, and Dale and Deborah Bultena of Chancellor; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Eleanor Osthus of Lennox; one brother-in-law, David Strasser and his wife, Shirley, of Wausau, WI; three sisters-in-law; Dorothy Siepkes, Myrtle and Mae Strasser, all of Lennox.
