Note: Mr. Knock has refered me as the source for the name, Richard Bultena. My data base has the name 'Dick Bultena'. In these United States, Dick is a common sobriquet for Richard, but it is unwise for those doing Ostfrieslandgenealogy research to ASSume that Dick is a sobriquet for Richard.

While visiting in Deutschland, one of the relatives had the name Dirk. When people spoke his name, however, it sounded like 'Dick'.

Since Dick Bultena has a grandfather named Dirk Harms Kuper, it is possible he was named after him. It is possible that Dick Bultena Anglecized the Dirk to Dick. We may need to go to his christening or birth record to solve this one. -D.A. Navorska - xv Oct MMIV - Irving TX. <>
