Melvin K. Kuper, age 81 passed away Saturday August 23, 2014 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, late of Romeoville, formerly of Addison.

Veteran of the Korean War serving US Navy 1951 to 1955. He was retired from American Airlines and the Village of Addison.

He is survived by his loving wife Vera Kuper; children Renae (Rick) Piquard, Deborah (Tom) Hand, Cynthia (Scott) Sliwinski, Kevin (Juliane Nelson) Kuper and Kent (Martha) Kuper; siblings Gary (Eloise) Kuper, Myron (Sue) Kuper and Beverly Hansen, also 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents Jerry and Marian Kuper; brother Vernon Kuper; sister Frances Meinders Severs and a grandson.

Visitation Thursday 3 to 8 p.m. at the Anderson Memorial Home, 21131 W. Renwick Rd. in Crest Hill.

Funeral Friday August 29, 2014 where he will lie in state from 8:30 am until the time of service 9:30 am at Plainfield Congregational (UCC), 24020 W. Fraser Rd. in Plainfield (www.plainfielducc.org).

Interment to follow, Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
