JERRY M. KUPER

OSAGE, IOWA - Jerry M. Kuper, 91, of Osage, died Thursday, August 12, 1999, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Osage, with the Rev. Dennis Hanson and the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 3 until 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Champion Funeral Home, Osage.

Jerry was born on March 6, 1908 at Ackley, Iowa, the son of Menno and Clara (Spieker) Kuper. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church in Ackley.

He was united in marriage to Marian Aukes on July 3, 1931. They farmed near Ackley until 1948. They then moved to a farm near Osage in 1949. Upon retirement, they moved to Parkersburg in 1973. They returned to Osage in 1977. Marian passed away in 1984. He enjoyed playing pool and dancing.

He married Melba Benker, of Osage, on September 10, 1987. They continued to live in Osage.

He is survived by his wife, Melba, of Osage; three sons, Melvin Kuper and his wife, Vera, of Addison, Illinois, Gary Kuper and his wife, Eloise, of Osage, and Myron Kuper and his wife, Sue, of Osage; two daughters, Frances Meinders and her husband, Harold, of Dumont, and Beverly Hanson, of Salem, Ore.; two stepdaughters, Phyllis Barndau, of Osage and Shirley Bentley and her husband, Charles, of Waterloo; ; one sister, Mildred Huisman, of Sarasota, Fla.; 22 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Marian; an infant daughter; one son, Vernon; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three sisters; and two brothers.
