Rachel Irene (Soles) Knecht, age 90, of Sylvania, Ohio passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Kingston Care Center, Sylvania. She was born March 1, 1931 in Delta, Ohio to Marion and Irene (Sindel) Soles.

Rachel graduated from Delta High School Class of 1949. She stayed in touch with several of her classmates and enjoyed attending reunions and luncheons over the years, catching up with all her old friends.

She met and married the love of her life, Robert Koder, and moved to Columbus to begin their life together. For a short time, Rachel worked at The Ohio State University and then entered the banking industry working at several banks over the years. After moving back to Toledo, she and Robert raised their children and became members of Five Lakes Church in Sylvania.

In her free time, Rachel enjoyed playing tennis, working jig-saw puzzles, cross-stitch and reading. She also kept busy with Word Search, Suduko and crossword puzzles. Rachel was a member of a Bridge Club and loved staying in touch with each of the ladies over the years.

Rachel was a kind and caring person always putting others needs before her own. When it came to family, her grandchildren were the light of her life. They spent hours playing games, laughing and loving their time together.

Rachel was very independent and was proud of having lived in 6 different states during her lifetime. While living in Florida, she met a man named Bill Knecht and soon knew they were meant to be together. They married in 1987 and remained together until his passing in 2005.

In addition to her parents, Rachel was also preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Knecht; the father of her children, Robert Koder and sisters, Betty Jane and Donna Jean. Rachel is survived by her loving children, Stephen (Denise Dartt) Koder, Ted Koder, Tim (Linda) Koder and Shari (Dan) Havens; grandchildren, Eric Koder, Andrea Koder, Elizabeth (Grant) Grohowski, Amanda Koder, Jennifer (Thomas Juhasz) Koder, Jon (Jaime Minch) Koder, Emily (Phil Dixon) Koder, Hannah (Kyle) Alexander, Taylor (Jerry) Bauman, Grace (Zac) Johnson and Matthew (Jordan) Macklenar and great-grandchildren, Mia, Evelyn, Cecelia, Josie, Isis, Myra, Henry, Avery, Zeke and Summer.

There will be a Private Service held to celebrate Rachel's life for family. Burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of NW Ohio or Five Lakes Church or to the charity of the Donor's Church in Rachel's memory.
