Dorothy Murra, 95, of Sioux Falls, SD, formerly Lennox, SD, died Sunday, October 25, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Village, Sioux Falls, SD.

Dorothy Ann Hora was born on October 28, 1924, at Olivet, SD, the daughter of Frank and Julia (Novak) Hora. She attended rural school through the eighth grade and then graduated from Olivet High School in 1942. Dorothy went on to earn her teaching certificate from the University of South Dakota, Springfield, SD. Dorothy taught school at the Vietor Rural School in Lincoln County for three years.

On August 24, 1946 she was united in marriage to Peter P. Murra. She farmed side by side with Peter near Lennox and then near Hartford in 1965. Peter died on May 15, 2004, ending a marriage union of over 57 years.

Dorothy was a member of First Reformed Church, Sioux Falls. In younger years she and Peter enjoyed dancing. She also enjoyed gardening, reading and crafts. She and Peter loved to travel and took many trips including a trip to Europe. They wintered in Texas and Arizona for many years. Most of all, Dorothy loved her family.

Besides her parents and husband Pete, Dorothy was preceded in death by one son, Melvin Murra; two daughters-in-law, Pam Murra and Donna Murra; sisters: Reva Groen, Agnes Gran and sister, Mary Ann in infancy; brothers: Vincent Hora, Leighton Hora, Robert Hora and Frank Hora Jr.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children: Marlin (Joy) Murra, Andover, MN, Vern (Barb Haugen) Murra, Sioux Falls, Gary (Darlene) Murra, Sioux Falls, Marcene (Jim) Siemonsma, Hartford, Leslie (Delores) Murra, Lead and daughter-in-law, Barbara Murra, Sioux Falls; 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Private family services will be held with burial in the Lennox Cemetery, Lennox, SD.
