HOWARD ALWOOD ST. JOE -- Howard Alwood, 68, died early Friday morning at his daughter's home. He was a mail carrier for the St. Joe post office, and resided at 5800 CR 60, St. Joe. He was a member of the St. Joe Church of Christ and the Leo American Legion. Mr. Alwood was born Sept. 3, 1921 in DeKalb County to the late William and Mae (sic)(Daily) Alwood. He married Naomi Beaty on April 18, 1957. She preceded him in death Dec. 20, 1987. Surviving are one son, John Zimmerman of Auburn; one daughter, Carolyn Humbarger of St. Joe; one brother, Sam Alwood of Angola; three sisters, Anna Obendorf, Emily Tressler and Margret Alwood, all of Butler, and three grandsons. Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death. Friends may call Sunday from 2-9 .m. in Baidinger & Walter Funeral Home, Spencerville. Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home, with Sherman Nichols, pastor of the St. Joe Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Auburn. Memorial donations may be made to the church.
