Ronald D. Van Oort, age 67, of Rosholt, SD passed away on January 1, 2015 at St. Francis Health Care Campus in Breckenridge, MN. The funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Breckenridge, with Pastor Mark Manning officiating. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery near White Rock, South Dakota.
Ronald was born on August 22, 1947 to Arnold and Irene (Wieman) Van Oort in Canton, South Dakota. In October of 1966, Ronald enlisted in the United States Army and served time in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in October of 1968.

On September 13, 1976 Ronald was united in marriage to Donna Schafer in Canton, South Dakota. Of this union the couple had five children.

Some of Ronald's favorite pastimes included automotive tinkering, camping and most especially fishing.

Ronald is survived by his wife, Donna; his five children: Mike, Renee, Brenda, Ben and Casandra; their spouses; his many grandchildren; his sisters: Barb (Robert) Daker, Patricia (Spencer) Haugen, Pamela (Joseph) Welle; his step-mother, Marianne Van Oort.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Irene.
