C. Van Oort dies September 29

Cornelius H. Van Oort, son of Henry Van Oort and Eva Mouw was born January 13, 1880, near Newkirk.

He married Jane Schuurman on February 18, 1909 and they had one child, Jane. Mrs Van Oort died unexpectedly on May 3, 1911.

Cornelius remained a widower until March 24, 1914 at which time he married Albertha Neyenhuis. They had five children.

They moved to a farm northwest of Inwood and farmed in that area until his retirement in 1944, at which time they moved to a home in Inwood. In 1953, they moved to Rock Valley, where they resided until his death on September 29, 1961. Mr. Van Oort died in the Sioux Center Community hospital at the age of 81 years, 8 months and 16 days.

Survivors are his widow Albertha and six children, Jane, Mrs. Weber Bergers of Rock Valley, Eva, Mrs Edwin Van Berkum of Sioux Falls, S D., Albert of Rock Valley, Henry of Rock Rapids, Harriet, Mrs. Ernie Kaiser of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Arnold of Starbuck, Minn. There are also 18 grandchildren surviving him.
