Merna Riordan, 83, of Bradley, passed away Sunday (Feb. 10, 2013) at Snyder Village Retirement Home in Metamora.

Mrs. Riordan was born June 30, 1929, in Benson, the daughter of Conard and Florence (Linneman) Yount. Merna married Thomas P. Riordan Jr. on Aug, 16, 1958, in Benson. He passed away Feb. 7, 2008. Mrs. Riordan was a teacher starting in 1951 for the Peotone School District and retiring in 1992 from St. Patrick School in Kankakee. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley, and a past CCW member. Merna enjoyed doing word puzzles.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas Riordan, of Clifton, and Gerald Riordan, of Kankakee; two daughters, Jane (Larry) Regas, of Bourbonnais, and Maureen (David) Ponto, of Kankakee; one sister, Lavonne Strauch, of Metamora; two brothers, Lynn Yount, of Peoria, and Clement (Maryann) Yount, of Bradenton, Fla.; four grandchildren, Jody, of Plainfield, Grace and Isabel, of Kankakee, and Andrew, of Clifton; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Mary Lenore; brother, Merle Yount; sister-in-law, Lola; and two sisters, Jewel Witte and Carol Nesrsta.

A gathering time for family and friends will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Schreffler Life Story Funeral Homes, Bourbonnais Chapel. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley. Father Anthony Nugent will officiate. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Bourbonnais. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Autism Speaks, 2700 S. River Road, Suite 203, Des Plaines, IL 60018.
