"married Mensena Modder there. In 1888, when their eldest daughter was two years old, they came to America, settling first at Freeport, Illinois. In 1901 the family came to farm in the George vicinity, three miles west of town.

Children in the family were Annie (married Heiko H. Gruis); Winifred (Mrs. Peter A. Bloomendaal); Essie (Mrs. Ralph Lamfers); John F. (married twice, Grace Gruis and Pearl Ailts Snuttjer); Harm (married Isabel Wolfe); and Fred F. (married Ann Baxter)."

Ralph was the son of Ben and Anje Popkes Lamfers and he married Essie, who was the daughter of Fred, Sr. and Mensena Modder Stubbe. The couple farmed 2 miles north of George and then moved to town.
