MILBANK - Mundwiler Funeral Home announces the death of Evelyn Aden, age 81, of Milbank who died Saturday, April 1, 2017, at the Milbank Care and Rehab Center.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 4 at 10:30 a.m. at American Lutheran Church with the Rev. Carl Larson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Milbank City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today (Monday, April 3) at Mundwiler Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Tuesday.

Casket bearers include Evelyn's grandchildren, Shawn Bohn, Dustin Boerger, Nick Boerger, Justin Aden, Spencer Boerger and Daren Schultz. Honorary bearers will be Joshua Aden, Jacob Aden, Tarrah Schultz, Alison Aden, Christian Aden, Logan Aden, Park Place employees, and Milbank Care and Rehab Center employees.

Evelyn Dorene Aden was born on Aug. 2, 1935, in Milbank, to George and Doris (Harms) Bohlen. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Corona. Evelyn attended school in Corona through the eighth grade.

On Aug. 11, 1963, Evelyn was united in marriage with James Lowell Aden at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Corona. Evelyn and Jim moved to Milbank, where they raised four children and made their home together for the next 52 years. James passed away in 2015.

Evelyn worked as a painter and refinished wood for over 10 years. She worked at Midland Printing for 10 years as well. Evelyn was a member of American Lutheran Church.

Evelyn had many hobbies and interests. She liked embroidery, flowers and gardening and canning. Decorating for Christmas and making Christmas candy were important to her. Many Sunday mornings found her serving coffee and cookies to her friends and family. She loved sharing coffee and visiting. Most of all, time spent with her family was dearly treasured.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Glenda (Danny) Bohn and Wendy (Luke) Boerger, all of Milbank; son, Larry (Sheryl) Aden of Stillwater, Minn.; nine grandsons; one granddaughter; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Alvin (Marge) Bohlen of Brookings; sister, Luella DeGreef of Wilmot; brothers-in-law, Darreld (Avis) Aden of Milbank and Lowell Dockter of South Shore; sisters-in-law, Carol Aden of Milbank, Loretta Meister of Burlington, Wis., and Eunice Aden of Stillman Valley, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; and son, Wayne.

Mundwiler Funeral Home of Milbank is in charge of arrangements for Evelyn Aden.
