"Flora Schaefer was born in Springfield, Illinois in 1890. She came to Buffalo Center with her family as a small child. Heyo was a farmer and Flora taught country schools near Lakota for seven years.

Heyo and Flora were married on March 21, 1917, and moved to the farm south of Lakota where they lived from 1917 to 1953. They raised a family of two girls and two boys: ... John and Joe in 1926. They all attended Lakota High School. ... John married Jane Smidt; they have five children and live on their farm northwest of Buffalo Center. ..."
