Funeral services for John Heetland, 21, of Lakota were held Saturday afternoon, December 19 at 1:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Lakota with Rev. J. C. Chambers officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery at Lakota withWinter Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Heetland died Wednesday, December 16,1992.

Nancy Haas was the organist and Dale Koppen was the vocalist. Congregational hymns were also sung. Casketbearers were Ryan Ristau, Wade Osberg, Tony Droessler, Paul Adams, Mike Wycoff and Dan Lavrenz.

"Mary Heetland, was born January 21, 1971 in Blue Earth, Minnesota. He grew up in the Lakota area and graduated from Buffalo Center-Rake High School in 1989. He married Dawn Olson on March 3, 1990 and to this union a son was born. At thetime of his death, John was employed at Good Year in Johnston, Iowa,

He was a member of Lakota's First Presbyterain Church and the Iowa National Guard. John enjoyed mechanics and race car driving.

Survivors include his son, Tyler, of Bancroft; his parents, Gary and Mary Heetland of Lakota; two sisters, Annette of Stewartville, Minnesota and Heidi Olson and husband, Jeff, of Mankato, Minnesota; his grandparents, Helen Oswald ofBancroft and Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Heetland of Lakota and by several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by a grandfather and a step-grandfather."

"Dawn Marie Olson and John David Heetland were married Saturday, March 5, 1990 at the First Presbyterian Church in Lakota.

Parents of the bride are Donald and Kathy Olson of Buffalo Center. Parents of the bridegroom are Gary and Mary Heetland of Lakota.

Attending the bride as maid of honor was Heidi Heetland, sister of the groom. Jeff Olson, brother of the bride, served as best man.

The bridegroom is employed at Troy's Auto Clinic in Fairmont, Minnesota and also is a member of the Natonal Guard.
