Simon Tutje Des Moines, IA

Simon Tutje, 95, of Des Moines, formerly of Worthington, died Thursday, Jan.24, 2002 at the Calvin Community Care Center in Des Moines.

Born in Matlock, Iowa, Nov.11,1906, he was the son of Evert Sr. and Etta Janssen Tutje. He married Viola Johnson. She preceded him in death. After marriage, they farmed for many years in the Worthington, MN area. Later they settled nearPound, WIs. He was a former member of the Assembly of God Church, Worthington, and more recently a member of the Gospel Assembly Church, Des Moines, Iowa. He resided in Des Moines for the past 3 1/2 years.

Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Minton, Des Moines, and Ilona Rakowski, Pound; two sisters, Loretta Weinrank, Sanborn, Iowa, and Agnes Dreessen, Port Orchard, Wash.; nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Walton, Roste & Vogel Funeral home, Sibley, Iowa.

The service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Walton, Roste,& Vogel Funeral Home, Sibley, with the Rev. Rodney Synder officiating. Burial will be in Holman Township Cemetery, Sibley.
