Note: Arthur Ray “Charlie” Beek, 69, of Wichita Falls, died Monday, December 6, 2010.

The memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, December 12, 2010, in the chapel of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls. Interment and full military honors rendered by the Sheppard Air Force Base Honor Guard willfollow at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 13, 2010, at the Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.

A son of the late Raymond and Anna Mabel (Ackerman) Beek, he was born July 25, 1941, in George, Iowa. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force for twenty years. He received the AF Good Conducts Medal with 5 oak leafclusters, small arms expert marksmanship ribbon, AF longevity service award with 4 oak leaf clusters, National Defense service medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 bronze service stars, AF outstanding unit award with 2 oak leaf clusters,AF outstanding award with valor device and 1 oak leaf cluster and the Republic of Vietnam Galliantry Cross with palm. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Joe Beek; sisters, Shriley Schaa and Myrna Beek; and a granddaughter, KimWischmeyer.

Survivors include his daughters, Cindy Vallier and Debbie Ripperger, both of Wichita Falls; son, Darrin Beek; special friend, Carol Sibole of Wichita Falls and her daughters, Annetta Grinnell, Carol Ann Brummett and Laura Lee Shannon;sisters, Ramona Grave of Rock Rapids, Iowa and Joanne Wickehagen of Hospers, Iowa; brother, Robert Beek of California; and five grandchildren, Ashley Selby, Justin Selby, Brooke Selby, Grant Ripperger and Kenzey Ripperger.
