Mildred Dontje, 78, of Forest City died Thursday, December 5, 2013 at the Mercy Medical Center - North Iowa in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, December 10th at the Congregational Church in Forest City with Pastor Joyce Schmidt officiating.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 P.M., Monday at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark St., in Forest City and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Interment will be held in Madison Township Cemetery in Forest City, Iowa.

Mildred Dontje, the daughter of Reider and Anna (Onken) Aukes was born April 25, 1935 in Buffalo Center, Iowa. She attended school until the 8th grade. She was married to Donald Dontje on December 2, 1955. Together they farmed in rural Buffalo Center until moving to Forest City in 1971. She worked for the Forest City Schools in the cafeteria for a short time and also worked for Waldorf College as the Recreational Room Supervisor, a job she truly enjoyed. Milly loved to shop and spend time with her daughter and her grandchildren. She was a long time member of the Congregational Church in Forest City. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mildred is survived by her daughter, Debbie Sherman and husband Todd of Lancaster, CA; grandchildren, Sheldon Sherman, Melissa McNulty and husband Erin and Nicole Sherman; sister, Mary (Mohamed) Khowassah of Iowa City, IA and brother, Rollin (Janice) Aukes of Kiester, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Donald, Ervin, Robert, Merle, Loran and Ray Aukes and sisters, Lily (Aukes) Weaver, Maxine (Aukes) Harms and Ruby (Aukes) Hofbauer.
