MABEL DELL DRENTH, age 89, of Ellsworth, died Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. She was born August 13, 1932, in George, IA, to Ed and Kate (DeVries) Ackerman. She attended country school and graduated from George High School in 1949. After graduating, Mabel worked at Louie's Café in George, IA.

Mabel married Dick Groenewold Jr. To this union a daughter, Karla was born. Dick died in 1975.

Mabel married Ervin Drenth on April 16, 1986. To this union four sons were welcomed, Lowell, Lyle, Lyndon and Layne. Ervin died in 2013. She lived in George, IA, Ellsworth and on the farm near Ellsworth. She moved into Ellsworth in 2016.

She was a member of the Zion Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth where she had played organ. She enjoyed crocheting, playing piano, cooking & baking for her family, watching the Minnesota Lynx, making apple bars and sour cream raison pie, the love of her cats and especially going to her grandchildren's basketball games.

Mabel is survived by her daughter, Karla (Loren) Kix, Ellsworth; four stepsons, Lowell (Diane) Drenth, Little Rock, IA; Lyle (Wilma) Drenth, Sioux Falls, SD; Lyndon (Nancy) Drenth, Ellsworth; and Layne (Lisa) Drenth, Sioux Falls, SD; fourteen grandchildren; and twenty-two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; and two brothers, Fredwin and Jay Ackerman.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 pm, with the family present from 7-8 pm, at the Zion Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth. Funeral will be 10:30 am Wednesday at the Zion Presbyterian Church, in Ellsworth, officiated by Pastor Randall Knuth. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in George, IA.

Dingmann Funeral Home, in Adrian, is in charge of arrangements.
