Junior Klingenberg (April 19, 1951 - November 25, 2010) George, IA

Junior Klingenberg, age 59 of George, IA died unexpectedly Thursday, November 25, 2010 at George, IA.

Public memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28th at the George Little- Rock High School Auditorium in George.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29th at Zoar Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dale Lint, officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Zoar Presbyterian Cemetery at George, IA.

Klaas Junior Klingenberg was born April 19, 1951, at Sibley, IA the son of Leona (Van Briesen) and Klaas Klingenberg. Junior grew up on the family farm northeast of George where he attended country school through the fourth grade. Heattended George Community School and graduated from George High School in 1969. After high school he attended Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon and earned a Vocational Agriculture degree. Upon graduation he enlisted in theNational Guard and was in basic training from July until November of 1971. He was a member of the guard for six years.

On May 12, 1972, Junior was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Pamela Schmidt, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in George. The newlywed couple made their home in Sheldon. During this time, he helped his father and hisfather-in-law farm and in 1973 they moved onto Pam’s parents’ farmstead. They had a dairy operation and raised cattle and hogs along with crop farming.

For the last ten years he drove truck hauling grain. In 2003, he and Pam moved into George, and he continued to farm and drive truck. He was a beloved husband, loving father and caring grandfather. Junior was an honest and gentle man whowent out of his way for anyone. He was a lifelong active member of the Zoar Presbyterian Church where he currently served as an elder, past Sunday school superintendent and deacon. In his spare time he enjoyed giving his grandchildrenrides on his motorcycle or in the car on Sunday afternoons. He also enjoyed vacations to Branson, MO, and attending the family’s annual trip to Okoboji. He also enjoyed going to the races with friends and family, along with going to carshows and owning black Ford vehicles. Junior died unexpectedly this past Thursday morning, November 25, 2010, at the age of fifty-nine. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Pam of George, IA; their children, Jason Klingenberg of George, IA; Heather and her husband, Korey Keizer of Sheldon, IA and Jared Klingenberg of Sioux Falls, SD; four grandchildren, Jaden, Kaci and JayaKlingenberg of George, IA and Kullen Keizer of Sheldon, IA; his father, Klaas Klingenberg, Jr. of George, IA; two sisters, Verla and her husband Clifford Groen of Little Rock, IA and LaVonne Christians of Sioux Falls, SD; brother-in-law,Kendal DeGroot of Sheldon, IA; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Junior was preceded in death by his mother, Leona; sisters, Leoris Klingenberg and Linda DeGroot; brother-in-law, Elmer Christians and good friend Denny Vaupel.
