Leonard Van Briesen - - the son of Freerk Van Briesen, married Harmky Ackerman, the daughter of Oltman Ackerman in 1906. Leonard was born in Germany and came here at the age of twelve. Harmky was born in Illinois. At first they farmed near Matlock for several years, then farmed three miles east and one mile north of George until they retired and moved to George.

Children in the family were John Fred (married Bertha Kruger); Amanda (Mrs. Detmer Janssen); Walter (married Gladys Duin); Leona (Mrs. Klaas Klingenberg); and Rachel (Mrs. A. J. Willemssen)."
