Klaas is the son of Klaas, Fr. and Lena Hassebroek Klingenberg. He married Leona, who was the daughter of Leonard and Harmky Ackerman Van Briesen. The couple farmed all their lives and after the death of his wife, Klaas retired to town.The family attended the Zoar Presbyterian Church

Their children all attended the local school system. They are pictured here: Bottom row, left to right: LaVonne (m. Elmer Christians), Linda (m. Kendall DeGroot and she is deceased), Klaas, Jr. (m. Pamela Schmidt) and Verla (m. CliffordGroen)" <>
