Edward Stohr, 91

Funeral services for Edward Stohr, 91, were held Wednesday, March 17 at 1:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Titonka. Rev. Dr. John Meyer officiated. Anita Eden was the organist. Katie Uken and Jeff Hawthorne provided specialmusic. The congregation also sang. Casketbearers were Brad Buns, Ron Pegarsch, Gene Uken, Kevin Christensen, Ron Christensen, Jim Korsa, Brent Gaven and Joe Korte. Interment was in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Titonka. Ed passedaway at the Titonka Care Center on Sunday, March 14, 2004. Winter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Edward Stohr, son of John and Grace (Alphs) Stohr, was born May 20, 1912 in Winnebago County. He attended Grant Township Country School in Winnebago County. On January 27, 1938 he was united in marriage to Grace Bruns at Woden. Thecouple made their home on a farm near Elmore, Minnesota, later moving to a farm in rural Titonka for five years and finally moved to their home place in rural Woden. Ed and Grace retired from farming in 1982.

Ed was a longtime member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church where he had been a Deacon. He loved to play harmonica and sing in his spare time and even though he had retired, Ed still tinkered in his machine shed on the farm. He moved toPrairie View Apartments in Garner in 2001 and became a resident of the Titonka Care Center on March 1, 2004.

Ed is survived by his two daughters: Sharon Uken and her husband, George, of Titonka; Thelma Meyering and her husband, Rusty, of Woden; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Elmer Stohr of Thompson; two sisters: Ann Larsonand Lois Carlberg of Stratford; two sisters-in-law, Tressie Beenken of Buffalo Center and Frances Bruns of Britt; and a special friend, Olga Jass, of Garner. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Grace; a daughter, ElaineChristensen; and by two brothers, Harry Stohr and Vernon Stohr. <>
