Funeral Service held for Grace Stohr, 94

WODEN: Services were held on Thursday, November 18 for Grace Stohr, 94. Mrs. Stohr died on Sunday, November 14 at her daughter's home in Stratford. A long time resident of the Woden and Buffalo Center area, she had lived in the TimelyMission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center for the past year.

Grace Alphs was born on August 26, 1888 in Clara City, Minnesota. She married John Stohr on May 14, 1908 and the couple farmed near Woden and Buffalo Center for many years.

She was preceeded in death by her husband and her parents, Ibe and Anna Alphs, and two sons, Harry and Vernon Stohr.

Surviving Mrs. Stohr are four children Edward Stohr of Woden, Elmer Stohr of Thompson, Mrs. Ann Anderson of Stratford and Lois Carlberg, also of Stratford; three brothers, Henry Alphs of Westview Manor in Britt, Adolph Alphs in BuffaloCenter and Fred Alphs of the Good Samaritan Home in Forest City; two sisters, Ella Hirsch of Eagle Grove and Mae Everding of Mason City. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held at St. John's Lutheran Church in Woden with Rev. Mark Smith presiding. Daryl Richeson was the soloist and Mrs. John Kurtzleben was the organist. The grandsons and the grandsons-in-law were pallbearers and burial wasat the Olena Mound Cemetery."
