Mavis Luppes, 88, of Webster City, died Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Southfield Wellness Community.

Mavis Arlie Magnuson, daughter of Axel and Tillie Hetland Magnuson, was born on January 18, 1926 on a farm near Radcliffe. She attended Radcliffe rural schools and graduated from Ellsworth high school. She graduated from AIB College in Des Moines.

On September 2, 1945, she married Lester H. Luppes at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth.

The couple farmed in the Kamrar area. Mavis worked as bookkeeper for Thompson Hatchery in Ellsworth and also the Presbyterian Church in Kamrar.

The couple retired from farming in 1988 and moved to Webster City.

Mavis was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kamrar, the ladies church circle at church, and the Women's Club.

She enjoyed playing cards, quilting, putting together jigsaw puzzles with Lester, and gardening.

Mavis is survived by her husband of 68 years, Lester; children, Linda (Doug) Buchele of Muscatine; Loren (Donna) Luppes of Estero, FL.; Lloyd (Carol) Luppes of Story City; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth (Myra) Magnuson of Ellsworth; Orlan (Wanda) Magnuson of Canon City, CO.; sister, Ruth (Ron) Dalby of Algona and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Joel Jason Buchele; grandson-in-law, Kevin Grissenger; brothers, Dale and Delmar Magnuson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church, east of Kamrar, with Rev. John Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the First Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center.

Memorials may be left to the Community Church of Kamar bible study.
