Lester Luppes, 92, of Webster City, died Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Van Diest Medical Center.

Lester Henry Luppes, son of Johnnie and Grace Naber Luppes, was born December 22, 1923 on the family farm near Kamrar. He received his education from Liberty Township Country School, later graduating from Webster City. He attended the University of Dubuque.

On September 2, 1945 he was united in marriage to Mavis Magnuson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth.

The couple farmed in the Kamrar area. He also worked at the Kamrar elevator and sold insurance.

Lester and Mavis retired from farming in 1988 and moved to Webster City. They enjoyed wintering in Arizona and were married for 68 years. Mavis died on June 21, 2014.

Lester was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kamrar and also attended Community Church of Kamrar. He was a past board member of the Northeast Hamilton Schools, and the Kamrar Lions Club.

He enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles, playing checkers, helping Mavis quilt and spending time with his family.

Lester is survived by his children, Linda (Doug) Buchele of Muscatine; Loren (Donna) Luppes of Estero, FL.; Lloyd (Carol) Luppes of Story City; 11 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Mavis, he was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Joel Jason Buchele; grandson-in-law, Kevin Grissinger; brother, Arvid W. Luppes and sister, Lorraine Vaubel.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 15, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church, east of Kamrar with Pastor Peter Muelller officiating. Burial will be in the First Presbyterian Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center.
