Freeman F. Huisman, 81, Herald, Calif., formerly of Hillsdale, Wis., died Monday, June 25, 2007, at his home.

He was born Nov. 28, 1925, to Samuel and Harmka (Koop) Huisman at Kamrar, Iowa. The family moved to Wisconsin when he was six weeks old, and Freeman lived in the state until entering the armed services in May of 1945.

He was honorably discharged in 1946, and in October of 1947 entered the ministry and gave the next 32 years of his life to that calling, which included 24 years in the Philippine Islands as a missionary. He also spent many years in building and remodeling.

In 1979, he married Rosa Sanez. They made their home in Herald from 1980-1984, Chicago, Ill., from 1984-1990, Sacramento, Calif., from 1990-1995, Hillsdale from 1995-2002 and back to Herald in 2002.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a brother, Leon (Joyce) of Herald; a sister, Ellyn (Leon) Noef of Lincoln, Calif.; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Freeman was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Elaine; a sister, Geneva Young; and brothers, Wendell and Edmond.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 29, at Herald. Local services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 4, from Ridgeland Community Center, Terry Ault and Darin Jensen officiating, with interment at Glenwood Cemetery, Town of Dallas, Barron County.

Visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. Tuesday from Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Home, Dallas, and an hour prior to services at the community center Wednesday. [Obtained 3 July 2007 online from news-shield.com.]
