"JOHN DIRKS DEAD

Prominent Farmer and Banker Passes Away Yesterday Morning

John Dirks, prominent farmer and banker of Allendorf, dies at his home early yesterday morning, following an illness of only a few weeks. Death was due to hemorrhage of the brain. About six weeks ago Mr. Dirks showed some signs of failing health, but his case was not considered serious up to about ten days ago. Two weeks ago he attended church in Sibley and visited his sister, Mrs. John H. Isebrand, and apparently seemed in his accustomed good health.

The fueral will be held Saturday afternoon of this week, from the Presbyterian church of which the deceased is a member. Rev. J. A. Rotschafer will preach the sermon. Interment will be made in the Sibley cemetery.

John Dirks was born in Germany, December 23, 1862, asd was 57 years, 8 months and 6 days old at the time of his death. He came to Ackley, Iowa, when 18 years of age. In 1885 he was married to Peierke Moet, at Ackley, who survives him. They came to their Allendorf farm in 1886, where they resided up to a few years ago, when they removed to Allendorf. He was a progressive farmer and businessman. Of recent years he served as president of the Farmers Saving Bank of Allendorf.

Aside from his wife, he leaves nine children four daughters , Ida and Grace, Mrs. Rev. H. G. Schipper, Rushmore, and Mrs. Rube Heetland of Ackley; five sons, Theodore, Claus, Cassen and John Jr., and Jake Dirks of George. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. John H. Isebrand of Sibley.

All members of his famly will be here to attend the funeral."
