Notes about Jan van Ojik

Jan, die in navolging van zijn vader klompenmaker geworden was, werd vrijgesteld voor de Nationale Militie omdat hij de enige wettige zoon was. Rond 1900 kwam hij met zijn ouders in Ede op Bunschoten 49 wonen. Daar begon hij met zijn vader een klompenmakerij, die hij ook na het overlijden van zijn ouders geruime tijd voortzette. Op 34-jarige leeftijd trouwde hij met de 20-jarige Willempje Egbertsen. Willempje, die een zoontje van bijna twee jaar had, woonde bij haar ouders in Ede. Tijdens het huwelijk erkende Jan het zoontje, Wilhelm genaamd, als het zijne. Jan ging met zijn vrouw en kind bij zijn ouders op Bunschoten inwonen.
Op 12 december 1917 compareerde hij bij notaris R. Dinger te Lunteren. Daar werd vastgelegd dat hij een hypothecaire lening had genomen van Gijsbert Beek, met zijn woonhuis in de Bunschoten onder Ede als onderpand. (Akte 511)
Toen Jan bijna 63 jaar was, verhuisde hij in maart 1933 met zijn gezin Klaphekweg 25. Daar werkte hij ook als klompenmaker en bleef er met zijn vrouw wonen tot hij op 82-jarige leeftijd overleed.
