"Reeds bij de oprichting in 1947 werd ik gekozen als voorzitter van de KVP Jongeren. Ik was voorzitter van de KVP Gemeente Centrale Aalsmeer van 20-02 1970 tot 11 oktober 1980. Ik was lid van de gemeenteraad voor de KVP van 1974 tot 1978, en voor het CDA van 1978 tot 1986. In 1987 werd ik vice-voorzitter van de Commissie beroep- en bezwaarschriften van de gemeente Aalsmeer, tot 1995. In oktober 1995 werd ik afgevaardigde van de gemeente Aalsmeer in de Regionale Geschillencommissie Woonruimteverdeling Amstelland-Meerlanden. In 1996 werd ik vice-voorzitter van deze commissie en van 2002 tot 2004 voorzitter.
Voorts waren er verschillende functies in Regionale commissies ten tijde van het lidmaatschap van de gemeenteraad, zoals Brandweer, Ambulance Meldkamer, Reconstructie tuinbouwgebieden, e.a..
Andere niet-politieke activiteiten waren vooral gericht op het maatschappelijke werk, zoals Katholieke Bond voor Ouderen (gemeentelijk en provincionaal) en Welzijn Ouderen in Aalsmeer, en recreatief, zoals Nederlands Bloemenkoor (secretaris en voorzitter).
In 2001 kreeg ik een koninklijke onderscheiding: Lid in de Orde van Oranje Nassau."
