Op 14 juni 1898 is Johannes samen met ondere andere zijn vader Nicolaas en stiefschoonvader Adrianus Steenvoorden een van 25 oprichters van de Cooperatieve Boerenleenbank (nu Rabobank) te Nieuwer-Amstel.

Kaart Onteigening Boschplan 1934:
Een plattegrond met de onteigeningen zoals die in 1934 hadden plaatsgevonden / waren voorzien voor het Amsterdamse Bos, toen nog bekend als Bosplan of Boschplan. De boerderij van Johannes Helsloot (1862-1943), Welgelegen, staat daar op vermeld (aan de Ringvaart, het te onteigenen land staat vermeld als 82 a t/m t). In de strook land van 82k, met het nummer 2040, staat de boerderij ingetekend van Johannes Helsloot (1894-1980) aan de Burgemeester A. Colijnweg. De naam van die boerderij staat niet op de kaart, waarschijnlijk had die geen naam. De eigenaar van het hele kavel 82 was Johannes Helsloot (1862-1943), zijn zoon Johannes Helsloot (1862-1943) was een pachter van zijn vader (vandaar dat hij blij mocht zijn dat hij uiteindelijk verder kon boeren aan de Uitweg, als pachter van de gemeente Amsterdam).
In het archief van Amsterdam / rechtbank zou nog een dossier moeten liggen over Johannes Helsloot (1862-1943), onder de noemer bouwverbodzone of zoiets. Schiphol was als luchthaven begonnen, en had een bouwverbod laten instellen voor die er tegenover gelegen polder (waar Johannes Helsloot (1862-1943) dus met zijn gezin woonde). Johannes Helsloot (1862-1943) zag zijn mogelijkheden beperkt worden, en is gaan rechten. Volgens Theodora Helena Maria Helsloot 1936 heeft hij gewonnen, schadevergoeding toegewezen gekregen, en heeft vervolgens moeten rechten om die schadevergoeding te ontvangen. Hij heeft uiteindelijk gewonnen. En vervolgens kwam het Boschplan, en maakte het allemaal niets meer uit.
