Notes about Elizabeth Betsey Reid

1. See Note 2 ------------
Cannot be sure of birth of Elizabeth on Scotlands People, although there are 3 Elizabeths born in Eckford between 1855 & 1859, and numerous more born in Kelso during the same years.

2. Elizabeth, in the 1861 and 1871 census is grandaughter to Margaret Noble Reid, not daughter as previously thought, Agnes Reid is also in the house, in the 1861 census, she is possibly the mother of Elizabeth.
(Tree not yet adjusted to suit,13/12/10)
Whats goin on here?
PS There are 20 years difference between birth years of Thomas Reid and Margaret Noble's children, if Elizabeth is their Child.

3. On 24 October 2012 I found the birth register for Elizabeth Reid. She was baptised as Betsey Reid, born 31 March 1857, in 168 Horse Market, Kelso, illegitimate (Father not named) Mother Agnes Reid, informant at birth Thomas Reid, Painter, Grandfather of the Child.
Tree now adjusted.

4. It is unknown if Elizabeth knew her true parents, although further records ie her marriages and her death shows her parents as Thomas Reid and Margaret Noble.

    6. 1911 Scotland Census Scotlands People, 1911 HARROWER, GEORGE (Census 789/ 23/ 6) Parish: Wilton 1911 Scotland Census [Scotlandspeople.com] The 1911 census was taken on Sunday 2 April under provisions in the Census (Great Britain) Act 1910. The records were released on 5 April 2011 following the end of their 100 year closure period. There were new questions relating to fertility of marriage: on duration of marriage; the number of living children born to each marriage; and the number alive at the time of the census. There were changes to several others: categories for people with disabilities were revised and the introductory section to the third report on the 1911 census refers to the intended use of the terms as: lunatic - in cases where the infirmity had been acquired during life imbecile - in extreme cases where the infirmity had existed from birth or an early age feeble-minded - in milder cases where the infirmity had existed from birth or an early age.

      In Memorium —
ln loving memory of George Harrower, who died 16th February, 1915.
It is hard to part with those we love,
      Though parting days will come,
Yet let us hope to meet above,
For this is not our home.
We cannot tell who next may fall
      Beneath the chastening rod—
One must go first—then let us all
      Prepare to meet our God.
[lnserted by his widow and daughter Jenny, 4 Wellington Street]

Sleep on, dear father, thy work is o'er,
      Thy willing hands will toil no more;
Nothing but our aching hearts can say
How we miss thee night and day.
