José de Carvalho Duarte foi o primeiro marido de Mariana Antonia de Jesus, com quem se casou aos 26-06-1784.

Ela era filha de Escolástica Maria Lopes de Siqueira e seu primeiro marido Manoel Antonio de Souza, provávelmente nascida antes do casamento dos pais, já que foi batizada por exposta, como consta no termo de seu casamento. Por sua mãe, foi neta do português João Lopes de Siqueira e Ana da Fonseca Coutinho, por esta bisneta de Feliciano da Silva Coutinho e Maria Portes del Rei (S.L. 5º, 181, 3-1 e família "Lopes de Siqueira" neste site)

Aos 26-06-1784 – José de Carvalho Duarte, filho legitimo de Caetano de Carvalho Duarte e Catherina de São José= Marianna Antonia de Jesus, filha (:não consta ser legitima) de Manoel Antonio de Soiza e de Escolástica Maria Lopes, batizada por exposta (sic). Ambos desta. Test: Antonio Rodrigues Guimarães e Gonçalo Correa Netto.

Foram moradores em São Miguel do Cajurú onde possuíam partes da Fazenda Engenho de São Miguel.

Juntamente com seus irmãos, José também possuía parte do Engenho dos Carvalhos, herança de seus pais Caetano de Carvalho Duarte e Catarina de São José, à qual ele acrescentou a parte de seu irmão Antonio por troca.

José faleceu aos 20-4-1814 e teve seu inventário aberto aos 25 de outubro do ano seguinte.

Na abertura do inventário, Mariana Antonia já estava casada com seu cunhado Francisco Carvalho Duarte (Cap 4º ), de quem não teve filhos.

Mariana Antonia faleceu aos 08-06-1833 com inventário aberto na Fazenda Engenho dos Carvalhos aos 22-01-1834 por seu filho Silvestre Antonio de Carvalho. Alem das terras na Fazenda dos Carvalho, Mariana deixou um sexto de uma fazenda vizinha à Matriz de São Miguel do Cajuru, comprada a Dona Ana Joaquina Rosa e metade da Fazenda do Tejuco na Aplicação da Piedade do Rio Grande.
