Dit is waarschijnlijk al het nieuwe huis, zoals dit op de kaart van Beckeringh is afgebeeld. Oostelijk van het huis staat op een kaart van 1771 een plek aangegeven als "olim Borgweer".
Edzard overlijdt al in 1782. Zijn vrouw Lucia Helena van Burmania kreeg in 1791 het vruchtgebruik van Verhildersum, hun zoon Ludolf het huis te Wehe, dat Verhildersum heeft overvleugeld.
