BIOGRAPHY
He built a small empire on the banks of te Waccamaw River, near what is now Pireway, North Carolina. He developed large land and slave holdings, invested in turpentine stills and tried to bring a railroad into the ares. His "stinginess" was well known and many old timers tell stories about it.

John Homer Gore married first 13 Sep 1841 Anna Louise Thomas b. 13 Dec 1821 - d. 14 Apr 1855, daughter of Daniel Thomas and brother of Cornelius Thomas.

:JOSEPH GORE FORD. J.P. Stanley, John H. Gore, J. F. Butler commissioned to build a bridge at seven creeks at the Joseph Gore ford. It was completed in 1891 and Columbus County sold the old barge for salvage.
