Bonnie Prince Charlie inspired the '45 Rebellion which was routed at Culloden Moor.
Charles became the focus of the Jacobites in 1735. He landed in Scotland and was crowned King Charles III in 1745. He led an army as far south as Derby in England then returned to Scotland  where he was defeated at Culloden Moor by Duke Cumberland on April 16, 1746. This marked the end of the power of the Scottish clans and the their way of life.
