Edgar Reed Orrell, 88, passed away Sept. 29, 2007, at his home in Sequim, Wash. Ed was born in Arkansas, lived in Arizona for a while, then arrived in Southern California as a teenager. He served in the Marine Corp during World War II, and returned to California from Japan. He moved his family from Covina to Hesperia in 1957. He worked with his brother-in-law, Milton Jones, at the Milt Jones Sign Shop where he became a partner. He and Milt owned and operated Hesperia Signs for a number of years.Ed was a charter member of the Apple Valley Church of the Nazarene and the First Church of the Nazarene in Victorville. He served faithfully on the church board for many years. He was a gentle man who loved the Lord.Ed and his wife, Polly, moved to Washington in September 2002, to be near their daughter, Shirley. Ed was preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Judy Permoda of Phoenix, Ariz. Ed is survived by his wife of 67 years, E. Pauline "Polly" Orrell, his son Eldon and his wife, Sharon, and daughter Shirley and her husband, Cliff Dwyer, all of Sequim, Wash., and sister Allene Wisner of Carmichaele. He leaves behind four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren who will carry on his legacy. All who know Ed will miss him, his smile, and his wonderful sense of humor.
