Dear son:
I received your letter which afforded me much pleasure. Today is Sunday and I have been at home all day. I have the sore throat and would not go to church because I knew that I would have to sing which I thought would be injustice to my self. I am writing in the room next to the street. Mr. Bunks has moved back here where they lived last Summer. Mr. Pipkins has moved his drug store to Mena. Mr. Hudgins has moved his store to Mena also. Mr. Cunningham has left the P.O. Mr. Orven has moved his store to Mena. I go to Mena every day. I have still got Pomp.
Lots of people are camping here at the springs like they were last year. We had a big pick nick at the Springs on the 3rd of July. About five hundred people were present.
I am doing my own cooking and stay by myself every night. It is very lonely but I hope one day when we will all meet in that place where people who are good and kind and love God go after death.
I pray that the Lord will guide my dear boy in all your life that when you are old you can look back over a well spent life. Be a good boy. Tell Will and Elsie to be good. I hope to see you all before very long. Help uncle Will and aunt Mary all you can. Then they will tell me that you are a good boy. Hoping to hear from you a gain soon. I am your father.
