Lawrence Benjamin Wisner "Larry" passed away peacefully on March 14, 2013 in his home, surrounded by his beloved family. He was 88 years old.

Lawrence Wisner was born on June 1, 1924 in Chowchilla, to Rev. Raymond and Beatrice (Hawver) Wisner. He grew up in California, moving multiple times as his father pastored various churches in towns such as Huntington Park, Sacramento, Railroad Flat and El Monte. The day after he turned 18, he enlisted into the army. While on leave in 1944 he married his high school sweetheart Jennie Allene Orrell, and days later returned to base, and was sent to Europe. He fought in France and Germany after the Normandy invasion in World War II.

After the war he returned home to his wife and started a family, having 2 children, Laurene and Raymond. He moved his family to Mt. Shasta City where he cleared some land and built a house on what is now Wisner Rd. He worked on his farm, became a plumber at Benshoff's Plumbing, and was also head custodian for the Mt. Shasta School District.

In 1964 he moved his family to the Sacramento area and built a house in Carmichael. He worked as a maintenance man for the San Juan Unified School District and attended the Carmichael Bible Church for many years. He continued a life of service, working on many projects for friends and family, even into his 80s.

Lawrence is survived by his wife of 69 years who he affectionately called Allene; 2 sisters, Mildred Hand of Mt Shasta City, and Ruth Gilliam of Redding; 2 children, Laurene Nelson (Ed) of Sacramento, and Rev. Raymond Wisner (Lil) of Marysville; 4 grandchildren: Sheree Morrison (Derek), Sandee Broersma (Luke), Shellee Coggins (Mat), and Sallee McCleskey (Tim), all of Marysville; 11 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lawrence led a life of service, laboring for many people and for his Lord and Savior. He will be missed.

A special thank you to Martha, Lilly and Ofa for all their kind care, UC Davis and the VA. A Visitation will be held from 9-11:00am on Sat. March 23, 2013 with a Funeral Service at 11:00am. Both services will take place at Mt. Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Ln. Fair Oaks, CA 95628.
