She worked as a nurse in Aberdeen, Leeds, Derby and Birmingham. She was a member of the I.A.M.N. Service and she was called for nursing duty during the 1914-1918 war with Germany. She served a period of ten years in a large military hospital and was awarded the Royal Red Cross Second Class for her war service. She next served in a ministery hospital for war disabled after which she was Matron of a home for pre-tubercular children at Cullis, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. She retired after twenty years of service, and as of 1964, she lived in a cottage at 2 Church Crescent, Newdeer, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
