Colonel Scott was a member of the sixth US Cavalry famed for its part in subduing Indian uprisings in the Southwestern part of the U.S. in the later part of the 19th Century. As a member of Colonel Scott's household, Sophia travelled with him to duty posts in the U.S. and its foreign possessions. Among these posts were those of Battle Mountain and Winnemucca, Nevada. After the death of Colonel Scott, she returned to Nevada where she passed away at the Humbolt County Hospital.
