After the death of her husband, Sofia wass a housekeeper for Colonel George L. Scott, a brother to her deceased husband. Colonel Scott was a member of the sixth US Cavalry famed for its part in subduing Indian uprisings in the Southwestern part of the U.S. in the later part of the 19th Century. As a member of Colonel Scott's household, Sophia travelled with him to duty posts in the U.S. and its foreign possessions. Among these posts were those of Battle Mountain and Winnemucca, Nevada. After the death of Colonel Scott, she returned to Nevada where she passed away at the Humbolt County Hospital. Funeral arrangements are pending word from relatives. Funeral services for Mrs. Scott, 82, a pioneer Humbolt County resident, who died yesterday afternoon following a lengthy illness, will be held Saturday afternoon from the Edna T. Eddy Funeral Home, Order of Eastern Star in charge. The services are in charge of Silver State Chapter No. 6, Order of the Eastern Star with the Christian Science Church officiating. Interrment will be in the Winnemucca Cemetary. Pallbearers to be C.P. Hoskins; Jack Anderson: E.R. Marvel; J.D. Minor; Judge L.O. Hawkins and R.C. Stitsser. Mrs. Scott had been confined to the Humbolt County Hospital for six years. Some time ago she became critically ill but rallied and not until recently did her condition become critical again.
