Madison - Loren Wieman, 74, of Madison and formerly of Canistota passed away on May 23rd at Madison Regional Hospital. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday May 27 at 10:30 am at First Church of God in Marion with burial in the Monroe Cemetery. Visitation and viewing will take place Wednesday, May 26th from 5-7 pm at the Walter's Funeral Chapel in Marion.
Loren Deane was born on December 11th, 1946 to Wert & Bernice (Buseman) Wieman in Sioux Falls, SD.
Loren grew up on a farm by Canistota, SD. He attended grade school at Spring Valley #2-16 and graduated from Canistota High School in 1964. Loren farmed and started his own business of buying and selling used farm equipment.
When Loren was 21 years old, he had an automobile accident. After being in a coma for several months, he regained his smile and sense of humor. Rehabilitation brought Loren back to the point where he could stand and walk with a walker.
When his parents could no longer care for him, Loren lived in several care centers in South Dakota. On August 4th, 1998, Loren moved to Valiant Living in Madison, SD, formerly known as ECCO, Inc.
Loren enjoyed attending church services and saying prayers before going to bed which was very important to him. Loren enjoyed fishing, old westerns, bull riding events, farm auctions, seeing farm animals, going through the John Deere lot, and his coffee. He liked watching TV and going out to eat with his house mates. Loren had a collection of John Deere toy tractors. Loren loved meeting people and he had the strongest handshake.
Loren is survived by his brother Marlo and his wife Julaine Wieman and brother-in-law Burdette Tieszen, as well as his nieces and nephews and many cousins. Loren was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Duane and his wife Shirley Wieman, sister Darla Tieszen and niece Lori Lynn Tieszen.
Loren's family would like to thank the many workers at Valiant Living who took wonderful care of Loren for 23 years. We know he was greatly loved by many of them for his sense of humor.
