"George Heitland Died, Funeral Was Tuesday
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 5 at the First Reformed Church in Buffalo Center for George Heitland with Rev. Henry Van Dyke in charge Burial was in Olena Mound cemetery with the following grandsons acting as pallbearersJames Heitland, Paul Heitland David Heitland, Terry Heitland Gregory Heitland and Jerry Alvey.
George Heitland was born in Germany on April 18, 1884. The family moved to the United States and settled near Ackley Iowa. They moved to Buffalo Center when George was 19 years old. On November 24, 1905 he was united in marriage toHarmka Pastoor and they worked at farming in this vicinity until their retirement in 1946.
To this union 11 children were born: 1 sons and 4 daughters. Grace, Mrs. Hubert Smith of Rockwell, Iowa; Margaret, Mrs Howard Refferty, of Austin, Minnesota; Esther, Mrs. Xermit Alvey of Eldora, Iowa; Mildred, Mrs. Lawrence Leibrand ofBuffalo Center, Iowa; Norman of Bricelyn, Minnesota; Harold of Iowa FaHs, Iowa; Forrest and Huxley of Rochester, Minnesota; and Edward, Joe and Alfred of Buffalo Center, Iowa. All these children as well as Mrs. Heitland, survive, also,are 4 sisters and 2 brothers; Maggie, Mrs. John Sleper, Jennie, Mrs. Cort Michelson, Lizzie, Mrs. Will Marske, Mrs. Tillie Ritschmeier and Henry and Herman.
He was preceeded in death by his parents and one brother and one sister.
George Heitland had a cardiac condition for some tune but became seriously ill about 6 weeks ago. He passed away peacefully last Saturday, (January 2) at about 10:40 a.m.
Both l&r. and Mrs. Heitland became members of the First Reformed church of Buffalo Center, Iowa on Easter Sunday, April 9, 1944 on confession of their faith. Of both of them it can be said that they adorned the doctrine of God theirSaviour with a Godly life. May it please their children, grandchildren and great grand children and succeeding generations to walk in their tram. <>
