John Evert Sleper, 87, retired Titonka farmer, died Friday, July 30 at his home here.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 2 at 1:30 p.m. from the Ramsey Reformed church, with Rev. John Janssen officiating. The Winter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Sleper had lived in the Titonka area his entire life since coming to this country from Germany with his family as a small boy. He was born at Emden, Germany on July 18, 1884, the son of Evert and Anna Sleper.
On November 30, 1910, he was married to Etta Rippentrop at the Ramsey Reformed Church. Survivors include his wife; six children, Mrs. Louis (Anna) Boomgarden of German Valley, Ill., Mrs. Henry (Margaret) Stecker of Titonka; Evert ofTitonka, John R. of Titonka, Mrs. Lawrence (Edna) Balvance of Buffalo Center, Mrs. Walter (Greta) Aukes of Woden, and Mrs. Mark (Mildred) Miller, Jr. of Britt. There are 25 grand-children and 12 great-grand-children. Also surviving aretwo sisters, Mrs. Ubbe Winter and Mrs. Ray Wentworth, both of Buffalo Center.
Mr. Sleper farmed for many years in the Titonka area before retiring and moving to town." <>
