"Mildred Miller
BRITT - Mildred Miller, 75, of Britt, passed away Thursday (May 25, 2006) at Hancock County Memorial Hospital. Memorial services for Mildred Miller will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at the United Methodist Church with Pastor Joel DeBoer officiating. Inurnment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Britt.
Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Ewing Dugger Funeral Chapel in Britt and continue one hour prior to services today at the church.
Mildred, the daughter of John E. and Etta Sleper, was born July 8, 1930, in Titonka. She was educated at Titonka schools and Northwestern College. She taught school for several years in western Iowa and in Britt. She married Mark MillerJr. (Monty) in 1953.
Mildred worked for many years on the family farm and golf cart business. She also volunteered with various groups that her children were involved in including PTA, scouts, 4-H, Music Mothers, choir, Sunday school, and attended all thechildren's and grandchildren's activities. She also loved spending time with her special friends in Britt and at Spirit Lake.
Mildred was a member of the Congregational Church where she was active in choir, Sunday school and other activities of the church.
She enjoyed singing in the "Sound of Music" with the Hancock County Little Theater singers and was a member of the Women's Club, the Red Hat Society and various other community organizations.
Mildred is survived by four children, Mark III, "Skip" and his wife, Sherry, John and his wife, Kim, Jim and his wife, Peg, all of Britt, and Sue and her husband, Mike Taylor, of Denton, Texas; 13 grandchildren; two sisters, Greta Aukesand her husband, Walter, and Edna Balvance; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sisters, Ann Boomgarden and Margaret Stecker; two brothers, Evert Sleper and John R. Sleper; and three brothers-in-law, Henry Stecker, Lawrence Balvance and Louis"
