Note: Anna Beek, 101, of George, died sunday Nov 30, 2008 at George good Samaritan Center. Services were Thursday Dec 4 at Ebenezer presbyterian Church, George, with internment in the Lyon county First Presbyterian Church Cemetery. AnnaAckerman was born Jan 29, 1907 near George the daughter of Mike and Mary (Hassebroek) Ackerman. She grew up in the George area and graduated from George High School in 1926. On February 22 1928 she married Raymond Beek. She worked as ajanitor at Ebenezer presbyterian Church 14 1/'2 years and cleaned George State Bank for 6 years. She moved to george Good Samaritan Center in 2002.

Survivors include 3 sons, Arlan ofAnoka, MN Art of Wichita Falls, TX and Robert of Burlingame, CA 2 daughters Ramona Grave of Rock Rapids, IA and Joanne (Don) Wickenhagen of Hospers, IA. 18 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 15great great grandchildren and one sister Grace Drenth of Sheldon, IA

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 daughters, twins Dorothy and Doris as infants, Schirley Schaa and Myrna Beek, two grandchildren, 4 brothers Ed, Fred, Pete, and Mitchell: 3 sisters Lena DeGroot, Minnie DeNeui, andMartha Julius.

"Beek, Raymond - Anna Ackerman

Raymond was the son of Aggo and Sally Klinkenborg Beek and after finishing rural school, he helped his father farm. He married Anna, the daughter of Mike and Mary Hassebroek Ackerman. Anna graduated from high school in 1926, being amember of the class who had attended all four years in the "new" George high school.

The couple lived all but five years of their married life of 50 years in or near George. Raymond worked at Sudenga Industries for 17 years before he retired. Anna was the janitor for the George State Bank and Ebenezer PresbyterianChurch. She also spent many years weaving rag rugs for people. Anna loved her church activities."
