"Kirk Heyer
Kirk Allen Heyer, 63, formerly of Buffalo Center, passed away on April 7, 2016 at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett, WA. Private inurnment will take place in Graceland Cemetery in Buffalo Center.
Kirk was born June 1, 1952 to Alfred and Betty (Aukes) Heyer at the Buffalo Center Hospital. The family lived on farms near Titonka and Rake and then moved into Buffalo Center after Alfred's death in a car-train accident near Rake in 1958. Kirk graduated from Buffalo Center High School with the Class of 1970, attended NIACC and worked at Winnebago Industries.
He married Faye Dorenbush of Lakota on July 28, 1973. They later divorced. He moved from Prescott, AZ to Washington Stte, where he made his home in the Seattle area for the past 38 years. Kirk enjoyed the incredible beauty of the Pacific Northwest, its fresh and salt water fishing and grilling fresh salmon. He worked at Boeing for over 25 years and was a proud member of his union, the Aerospace Machinists Industrial District Lodge 751.
Those grateful to have shared his life include: his mother, Betty Heyer, of the Titonka Care Center in Titonka; sister, Kathi (Mark) Nelson of Buffalo Center; nephews, Spencer Nelson of Buffalo Center and Reese Nelson of St. Louis Park, MN, whom he called, "The Boys from East Buffalo"; his brother by another mother, Ron Helgeland of Cedar Rapids, and his son, Alex Helgeland, also of Cedar Rapids; uncle, Roger (Carol) Aukes; aunts, Ramona, Florence, Kathy and Lois Heyer and Donna Aukes; close friend, Jose Guardado of Bothell, WA; and many cousins, classmates and friends.
Preceding Kirk in death were: his father, Alfred (1958); brothers, Kevin (2006) and Keith (2011); grandparents, George and Gesina Heyer and Ted and Elsie Aukes; aunts, Mary (Smith) and Iona Aukes and Marilyn Heyer; uncles, Edwin, Harvey, Kenneth and Richard Aukes and Harvey, Lawrence, Cecil, James and Gordon Heyer."
