'Gesina R. Heyer May 6, 1904 - January 21, 1997 Titonka - Gesina R. Heyer - 92, died Tuesday, Jan. 21 (1997), in the Titonka Care Center.
Funeral service for her was held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Ramsey Reformed Church of rural Titonka with the Rev. Victor Vriesen officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery, the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral home of Titonka incharge of arrangements.
Casket bearers were Steven Heyer, Kirk Heyer, Marcus Heyer, Denise McEver, James Heyer and Cory Heyer.
Gesina, daughter of Roelf and Gertie Jacobs Voogd Janssen, was born at Titonka on May 6, 1904. She attended country school in the area and after receiving her education, worked at home. She was married to George Heyer in the RamseyReformed Church on Feb. 14, 1923. They lived in the Titonka, Bancroft, and Lakota areas and after retiring in 1959, moved in Buffalo Center.
Gesina was a member of the Ramsey Reformed Church, The Ramsey Church Women and taught Sunday School of many years. She enjoyed music, gardening, crocheting and traveling.
Her husband died Dec. 28, 1981.
Mrs. Heyer is survived by five sons and a daughter-in-law, Harvey, Titonka; Lawrence, Cameron, MO; Cecil, Titonka; James, Manchester, IA; Gordon of Kansas City, KS and Betty Heyer, Buffalo Center. She has 25 grandchildren, 7 stepgrandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 4 step great-great-grandchildren.
Others who preceded her in death were her parents, three brothers and three sisters, Andrew, Ronie, Henry, Reka Cordes, Gertie Jannsen and Bena.'
