"Albert and Meta Sleper
Albert H. Sleper, son of Huga and Mina (Kuper) Sleper, was born on March 9, 1915, and lived in the Lakota area all his life. Albert farmed most of his life before moving into Lakota on December 15, 1976. Albert has five sisters and onebrother; those still living are Raymond of Clarksburg, Missouri; Gertie (Mrs Carl Meyer) of Lakota; and Armena (Mrs. Elmer Haas) of Lakota.
Meta Poppe, born on July 2, 1917, daughter of Adolph and Carolina 'Lena' (Christ) Poppe, was born near Ledyard, Iowa. When she was six years old her

family moved to a farm near Lakota. Meta did housework for different families before her marriage to Albert on February 14, 1940. She has two sisters, Elnora (Mayne) of Swea City, Iowa, and Katherine (Goetz) of Ledyard; and one brother,Adolph, Jr., of Lakota. Meta has 20 nieces and nephews.
Albert and Meta did a lot of the farming themselves. They enjoyed traveling to different areas of the country until Albert's death on October 11, 1981 at the age of 66. Meta continues to live in Lakota and is a member of St. Paul'sLutheran Church in Lakota."
After Meta's death, Albert & Meta's farm was purchased by Raymond Sleper's son, James Sleper.

"Funeral services for Albert H. Sleper, 66, of Lakota were held Wednesday afternoon, October 14 at 2:00 p.m. at St.
Paul Lutheran Church in Lakota with Rev. Herold Heupel officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery and Winter Funeral
Service was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Sleper passed away Sunday, October
11,1981 at his Lakota home. Pallbearers were Eldon Haas, Roger Engelby, Jim Sleper, Derald Goetz, Roger Mayne and Arden Haas. Zada Valvick was organist and singers were Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Christ. ''1

He was married to Meta PoppeFebruary 14. 1940 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lakota and they famed in the
Lakota area until he retired about five years ago.
He is survived by his wife, Meta; three sisters, Mrs. Carl (Gertie) Meyer, Mrs. Elmer (Armena) Haas, both of Lakota, and Mrs. Darold (Minnie) Gangstee of Elmore, Minnesota; one brother, Ray of Clarksburg, Missouri and several nieces and nephews, an uncle and several aunts. Hewas preceded in death by his parents and two sisters."
