Memorial services for Robert D. Armstrong, 63, were held Wednesday, May 26 at 10:30 am. at the United Methodist Church in Buffalo Center. Pastor William Peake officiated. Inurnment was at Graceland Cemetery at Buffalo Center. Robertpassed away on Sunday, May 23, 2004 at the United Hospital in Blue Earth, Minnesota. Winter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangement.
Robert Dean Armstrong, son of Royal and Catherine (Rhubee) Armstrong, was born February 22, 1941 at Raymond, Minnesota. He attended school in Buffalo Center.
On June 11, 1961, Bob was united in marriage to Sandra Rippentrop at the First Presbyterian Church in Lakota. The couple made their home in Buffalo Center where Bob worked with his father, Royal, and his brother, Chuck, at the DX serviceand gas station. Following his work at the DX station, Bob was the owner/operator of the local NAPA store from December of 1979 until his health forced him into early retirement in March of 2002.
Bob's love for his work was evident through the ways he spent his free time: he enjoyed racing stock cars, driving motorcycles and driving his scooter. He and Sandy loved to take their family camping in the summer months to local sitessuch as Crystal Lake and to places like Wyoming and the Ozarks. He also liked to play cards with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed taking fishing trips, especially to Canada.
Bob is survived by his wife, Sandy of Buffalo Center; four children: Troy and his wife, Sue, of Buffalo Center; Barb Hofbauer and her husband Rick, of Buffalo Center; Paul and his wife Julie, of Buffalo Center; Kelly and her finacé [sic],Justin Lugar, of Garner; seven grandchildren: Nik Hofbauer, Josh Hofbauer, Spencer Armstrong, Chelsey Armstrong, Casandra Meyer, Kyle Meyer, Cody Meyer; one great-granddaughter, Madyson Kohlhass; his mother, Catherine Armstrong, ofBuffalo Center; a brother, Charles 'Chuck' Armstrong, and his wife, March, of Buffalo Center; and many extended relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father."
Note: The town of Raymond sits on the Chippewa / Kandiyohi County line.
